Last Titanic Survivor Dies Aged 97

In the early hours of 15 April 1912, the Titanic, the largest vessel afloat at that time, hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic and sank. The liner had set off from Southampton on its maiden voyage to America. The disaster left 1,517 people dead, largely due to the lack of lifeboats. One of the passengers on board the liner was nine weeks old Millvina Dean, who was travelling in third class with her family, who were moving to America to open a tobacconist's shop in Kansas. Millvina, her mother Georgetta, and two year old brother, Bert, survived, but her father, Bertram, perished when the vessel sank.
Sadly, Millvina, who was living in a care home in Hampshire, died on Sunday at the age of 97. If you would like to watch Millvina and hear her story, click on the video link below.
